The Ebonyi State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha, has declared that the party remains politically “invincible” in the state, insisting it is fully positioned to secure a complete victory in the 2027 general elections.
Emegha made the assertion on Monday in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital, while addressing journalists on the state of the party ahead of the next electoral cycle.
He said the APC in Ebonyi has strengthened its internal structures, produced what he described as “credible candidates,” and resolved key internal disagreements that could have affected its electoral fortunes.
According to him, the ruling party is not only confident of winning major positions but is also targeting what he described as a “clean sweep” across all elective offices in the state.
“If my mind is made up on anything, it is made up. APC will win the 2027 general election in Ebonyi very comfortably,” Emegha said.
The party chairman dismissed opposition politicians in the state, describing some of them as individuals motivated by personal gain rather than genuine political ideology or service to the people.
He alleged that several opposition figures were previously given the APC platform in past elections but failed to secure victory, arguing that their return under different parties would not change their political fortunes.
“Those making noise in opposition parties were given APC tickets before, and they contested and lost.
"You contested election in the ruling party and lost. Now you want to try again in opposition. They are all scavengers. What they are looking for is the money that will drop for their ambition. None of them is serious," he said.
Emegha maintained that the APC has now repositioned itself with stronger candidates and a more unified structure capable of delivering electoral success at all levels.
He also dismissed reports suggesting that the party had altered or replaced its list of candidates for the forthcoming elections, describing such claims as “false and misleading.”
According to him, the party’s candidates remain those who emerged from the officially conducted primaries supervised by committees sent from the national secretariat.
“It is solely the responsibility of the party to write and forward cleared candidates to INEC, and I have done that,” he said.
He further explained that the selection process was finalised through consultations involving the state leadership, stakeholders, and the governor of the state, who is the leader of the party in Ebonyi.
“The state met severally and agreed on the candidates to file for the general election, and we filed those candidates. Even stakeholders, including respected leaders like Chief Martin Elechi, were part of the meetings where these decisions were concluded," he said.
Emegha added that the list of APC candidates had already been transmitted to the national secretariat for onward processing and eventual publication, urging members of the public to disregard rumours suggesting otherwise.
He also referenced internal party announcements and radio broadcasts where, according to him, successful candidates had already been congratulated, stressing that the outcome of the primaries was conducted transparently and on record.
“Everything was done on camera. The committee that conducted the primaries announced the results publicly. Nothing has changed,” he said.
The APC chairman urged party members to remain united and focused, assuring that the party would continue to consolidate its dominance in Ebonyi State politics ahead of the 2027 elections.
