The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate for the Ezza South/Ikwo Federal Constituency in the 2027 general election, Hon. Kevin Tobias Chukwu, has expressed confidence in his ability to unseat the incumbent lawmaker, Comrade Chinedu Ogah promising to deliver inclusive, effective and people-oriented representation if elected.
Chukwu stated this while speaking with journalists shortly after the Ebonyi Central Senatorial District Town Hall Meeting convened by the party's senatorial candidate, Prof. Bernard Ifeanyi Odoh in Abakaliki.
The House of Representatives hopeful said the people of Ezza South/Ikwo Federal Constituency were yearning for a new era of credible leadership and purposeful representation, insisting that the constituency deserved better legislative performance and greater developmental attention.
He maintained that his confidence stemmed from what he described as the growing desire among constituents for a credible alternative after what he alleged had been years of unsatisfactory representation.
"I am confident of victory because I have what it takes to defeat my major opponent. He (Comrade Chinedu Ogah) has represented the constituency for two terms, and many of our people are no longer satisfied with his style of leadership.
They are looking for a credible alternative, and I am prepared to offer that alternative," Chukwu said.
The NDC candidate pledged that, if elected, he would pursue legislation and policies aimed at improving the welfare of the people while attracting meaningful federal projects to communities across the constituency.
According to him, his legislative agenda would focus on inclusive governance, youth and women empowerment, infrastructure development, education, healthcare, agriculture and job creation.
He further declared that politics of intimidation and fear should no longer have a place in the country's democratic process, stressing that leadership must be anchored on service, accountability and the collective interests of the people.
"The era of intimidation and politics driven by fear is over. We are determined to do things differently by pursuing people-centred laws and policies and attracting projects that will improve livelihoods and accelerate development across Ezza South/Ikwo Federal Constituency," he stated.
He called on eligible voters in the constituency and across the country to actively participate in the 2027 general election by supporting candidates of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) at all levels, from the presidential election to the State Houses of Assembly.
According to him, the NDC represents a credible political platform capable of addressing Nigeria's growing socio-economic and governance challenges through visionary leadership and people-centred policies.
The town hall meeting, hosted by the party's Ebonyi Central Senatorial candidate, Prof. Bernard Ifeanyi Odoh, attracted party faithful, stakeholders and supporters from across the senatorial district, with discussions centred on the party's agenda for the 2027 general election and strategies for strengthening grassroots mobilisation.
