The lawmaker representing Ikwo/Ezza South Federal Constituency and Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Reformatory Institutions, Rt. Hon. (Comrade) Chinedu Ogah, OON, has called on the people of Ikwo to remain united and throw their weight behind the re-election of Ebonyi State Governor, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, in 2027 to sustain the state's ongoing development.
Ogah made the call on Saturday during the meeting of the Ikwo Elite Progressive Union held at Exclusive Serene Hotel & Suite, Abuja, where he commended the leadership and members of the association for their commitment to promoting unity, progress and the collective advancement of Ikwo people.
The federal lawmaker, who is the founder of the Union, praised the President of the association, Arc. Christian Asaga Nwali, Ph.D., and members of the executive for what he described as their unwavering dedication to strengthening the organisation and fostering meaningful engagement among Ikwo elites.
According to him, the achievements recorded by the Union over the past five years are a testament to the power of unity, purposeful leadership and collective responsibility in driving sustainable community development.
"I am delighted with the remarkable achievements recorded by the Ikwo Elite Progressive Union within the last five years. These accomplishments demonstrate that unity, purposeful leadership and collective responsibility remain the bedrock of sustainable development," Ogah said.
He urged members of the Union and the wider Ikwo community to continue supporting the administration of Governor Nwifuru, noting that the governor's developmental initiatives have positioned Ebonyi State on a path of sustained growth and transformation.
Ogah stressed that consolidating the gains already recorded under the current administration would require the continued support of the people, including backing Governor Nwifuru's bid for a second term in office in 2027.
He further reaffirmed the Union's commitment to serving as a platform for constructive engagement, community development and strategic partnerships aimed at advancing the interests of Ikwo people while contributing to the growth of Ebonyi State and national development.
The meeting brought together members of the Ikwo Elite Progressive Union from across the country to deliberate on issues affecting the development of the community and explore ways of strengthening unity and cooperation among its members.
