The campaign for the forthcoming local government election in Edo State gathered momentum on Thursday as the All Progressives Congress (APC) took its campaign to Anwain Community in Etsako West Local Government Area, seeking massive support for its chairmanship candidate, Hon. Romeo Omoike, and his running mate, Isah Tijani.
The campaign flag-off attracted party leaders, supporters and residents of the community, with the Edo State Commissioner for Oil and Gas, Hon. Andrew Momodu, leading the call for voters to rally behind the APC candidates ahead of the polls.
Momodu, an influential figure from Anwain, received the APC campaign team led by the Chairman of the party in Etsako West Local Government Area, Mr. Ahmed Kurata, and urged members and supporters to remain united to ensure the party's victory at the election.
As part of the campaign activities, the APC delegation paid a courtesy visit to the palace of the Ogie of Anwain, HRH Alhaji Mufutairu Oare, Aramah III of Anwain Kingdom, where they sought the royal father's blessings and support for a peaceful election.
Addressing supporters during the rally, Omoike unveiled his agenda for the local government, promising to prioritize security through stronger collaboration with the Nigeria Police, the Edo State Security Network, local vigilante groups and other security agencies to protect lives and property.
The APC chairmanship candidate also pledged to improve access to quality healthcare by renovating and equipping existing Primary Healthcare Centres and constructing new health facilities in underserved communities where necessary.
He assured residents that, if elected, his administration would operate an inclusive and people-oriented government while working closely with the Edo State Government to attract more development projects to communities across Etsako West Local Government Area.
The highpoint of the event was the presentation of the APC flag to the party's Ward 8 councillorship candidate, Mr. Wilson Iluobe, by the Etsako West APC Chairman, Mr. Ahmed Kurata, as the party intensified preparations for the forthcoming local government election.
Among dignitaries present at the event were member of the Edo State House of Assembly, Hon. Gani Akokhia; former Chairman of Etsako West Local Government Area, Hon. Muhizu Marvelous; Hon. Mrs. Momodu; party executives, community leaders, women and youth groups, as well as other APC stalwarts.
