A political pressure group, Ogodo Fans Club Nigeria, has unanimously adopted Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, as its sole candidate for the 2027 governorship election, declaring that continuity of his administration is essential for the state's development.
The endorsement was contained in a communiqué issued at the end of the group's strategic meeting held at the residence of its Vision Bearer and former Chairman of Ezza South Local Government Area, Chief Sunday Ogodo, JP, in Amuzu, Ezza South Local Government Area of the state.
The communiqué, read by Hon. Emeka Nwankwo on behalf of the National President of the group, Hon. Moses Elom, said the decision followed what it described as a forensic review of Governor Nwifuru's performance since assuming office.
According to the group, the governor has delivered measurable achievements through his administration's People's Charter of Needs policy, particularly in road infrastructure, healthcare, education, workers' welfare, security, and youth and women empowerment.
"In less than four years of his administration, Governor Nwifuru has moved Ebonyi from potential to performance. The evidence is not theoretical. It is concrete, measurable and visible in every nook and cranny of the state," the communiqué stated.
The group noted that roads linking previously isolated communities had improved economic activities, while hospitals, primary healthcare centres and schools had received significant attention from the government.
It further commended the administration for improving workers' welfare and creating opportunities for youths and women through empowerment programmes and appointments.
As part of its resolutions, Ogodo Fans Club reaffirmed its commitment to the welfare, unity and collective advancement of its members and declared its support for peace, political equity and the zoning arrangement that retains the governorship in Ebonyi North Senatorial Zone.
The group also endorsed Governor Nwifuru as its sole governorship candidate for the 2027 election and pledged support for all candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC), from the presidential election to the State House of Assembly.
"There will be no divided loyalty. Neutrality is not an option when progress is on the ballot," the communiqué said.
It argued that discontinuing the present administration in 2027 would amount to "economic sabotage and political betrayal," insisting that the governor deserves a second term to complete ongoing projects and consolidate reforms.
The group called on Ebonyi people, both at home and in the diaspora, to support Governor Nwifuru's re-election, describing the 2027 governorship election as "a referendum on performance, not propaganda."
It also directed its zonal coordinators, local government chairmen and ward leaders to commence voter awareness campaigns, door-to-door mobilisation and community engagement ahead of the election.
The communiqué concluded that the group had carefully assessed the governor's performance and found him worthy of another term in office.
Speaking at the meeting, the Vision Bearer of the group, Chief Sunday Ogodo, said the endorsement was informed by Governor Nwifuru's developmental strides across the state and what he described as the governor's uncommon love for the people of Ezza Clan.
