Thousands of civil servants in Ebonyi State are set to benefit from the 2026 promotion and conversion exercise following the approval of the exercise by Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru.
The Ebonyi State Civil Service Commission announced that the exercise will hold from July 2 to July 17, 2026, at the Commission's headquarters located at Block 10, Centenary City, Abakaliki, beginning at 9:00 a.m. daily.
According to a public service announcement signed by the Chairman of the Commission, Lady Virginia Okemini Oketa, the promotion and conversion exercise is for all qualified civil servants across the state's Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).
The Commission stated that the promotion exercise will commence on July 2 with officers from the Ebonyi State Internal Revenue Service, the Ministry of Infrastructural Development, Ministry of Education, State Council on Procurement, Ministry of Women Affairs, State Sports Council, Ebonyi State College of Health Sciences, Ministry of Youth Development and Sports, and the Ministry of Information and State Orientation.
Other MDAs have been scheduled on different dates, with the exercise covering ministries and government agencies including Water Resources, Justice, Works, Finance and Economic Development, Environment, Agriculture and Natural Resources, Health, Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Aviation and Transport Technology, among others.
The Commission further disclosed that the conversion exercise will begin on July 14 and end on July 17, with the final two days reserved for a mop-up exercise to accommodate eligible officers who may have missed their scheduled dates.
It urged all affected civil servants to adhere strictly to the timetable and appear at the venue on their designated dates for the exercise.
The Commission noted that the exercise is part of the state government's commitment to promoting merit, rewarding diligence, and strengthening efficiency within the Ebonyi State Civil Service.
