Ahead of the 2027 National Assembly elections, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ebonyi State, Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha, has warned party stakeholders and faithful in Ebonyi Local Government Area against giving excuses over the performance of the party at the polls, charging them to deliver massive votes for APC candidates.
Emegha specifically appealed to the people of the area to support the APC candidate for Ebonyi North Senatorial District, Senator Peter Onyekachi Nwebonyi, and the candidate for Ebonyi/Ohaukwu Federal Constituency, Hon. Eze Nwachukwu Eze, in the 2027 National Assembly elections.
The APC chairman made the appeal on Saturday during a rally organised by the party in Ebonyi Local Government Area to mobilise support for its candidates ahead of the August 22, 2026 chairmanship and councillorship elections in the state.
He said the people of Ebonyi Local Government Area should take advantage of their voting strength to decide the elections in favour of APC candidates and demonstrate the party's dominance in the area.
Emegha warned that the party leadership would not entertain excuses from stakeholders and party faithful in the constituency, urging them to make Governor Francis Nwifuru and the APC proud by delivering the party's candidates at all levels.
According to him, the rally was not only about the forthcoming local government elections but also an opportunity for party members to demonstrate their readiness to sustain APC's electoral strength ahead of future polls.
Speaking at the event, the Chairman of the occasion, Arch. Mbam Ogodo, said the people of the area had earlier resolved to support only APC candidates in all future elections.
Ogodo urged the state APC chairman and other party leaders to trust the commitment of the people, assuring them that the party would record overwhelming victories in the area.
"Our people have met and taken a decision to vote for APC candidates in all future elections. We are appealing to the leadership of the party to trust our decision and expect nothing but victory from Ebonyi Local Government Area," he said.
The outgoing Chairman of Ebonyi Local Government Area, Hon. Prince Chinedu Uburu, commended Governor Nwifuru for what he described as the administration's numerous infrastructural projects across the council.
Uburu said every community in the local government area had benefited from projects initiated by the state government, adding that the interventions had positively impacted the lives of residents.
He pledged to mobilise his supporters and other stakeholders to ensure the victory of APC candidates in the forthcoming elections and subsequent polls.
Also speaking, former Minister, Chief Godwin Ogbaga; the Principal Secretary to the Governor, Chief Mathias Adum; the Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Matters and Rural Development, Hon. Stephen Igwe; and a former Chairman of the council, Prof. Adaeze Nwuzor, among other stakeholders, pledged to galvanise support for the APC in the area.
The APC chairmanship candidate for Ebonyi Local Government Area, Mr. Chibueze Odigwe, who received the party's flag at the rally, promised to consolidate on the achievements of previous administrations if elected.
Odigwe said his administration would build on existing foundations and work towards moving the council forward, while calling on the electorate to vote massively for all APC candidates in the August 22 local government elections.
