Senatorial candidate of Action Peoples Party, APP, in Imo East District, for the 2027 National Assembly elections, Dr Chima Matthew Amadi has charged eligible voters in Imo State to reject and resist the practice of selling their votes ahead of the coming polls.
Dr Amadi who made the call during his Women's August Meeting engagements at St Mary Parish, Ubomiri, and St Mark’s Anglican Church, Ogwa, both in Mbaitoli LGA of Imo State rather urged them to instead of selling, use their votes to elect leaders who will genuinely improve people's lives.
Amadi observed that the hardship confronting ordinary people across the state could no longer be ignored, as many families could no longer be able to afford basic needs, coupled with dilapidated social infrastructure across communities.
He lamented that funds meant for providing essential services and improve the lives of citizens are often diverted or mismanaged, leaving the people to unjustly suffer the consequences.
Dr Amadi noted that the current situation in the country and Imo State, in particular, is partly the consequence of allowing ineffective leaders into public office and appealed to the women not to sell their votes, no matter the temptations.
"The vote remains one of the most powerful tools available to citizens to determine who governs them and the kind of society they want to build," he asserted.
Dr Amadi therefore promised that he would prioritize the improvement of schools and healthcare facilities, if elected noting that many lives have been lost because ordinary people are unable to access basic healthcare.
He also supported the Ubomiri community's hall and skill acquisition centre project with ₦6million and supported the Ogwa women's project with ₦2million.
Also speaking during the meetings, at Ubomiri and Ogwa communities, Hon Henry Onwukwe encouraged the women to take the message to every household and street, urging them to mobilize their families and communities to come out and vote for Dr Chima Amadi on January 16, 2027.
He stressed the need for everyone to participate in the electoral process, noting that meaningful change requires the collective involvement of the people in choosing who will lead them..
In their separate responses, the women expressed their support for Dr Amadi, promising to walk with him on his journey to the Senate just as Ogwa women pledged a block of 50,000 votes from the women and the community in support of his candidacy.
