The 2027 general elections have assumed a new political dimension in Ebonyi State following the inauguration of a fresh leadership structure of the Tinubu Support Group (TSG), with the member representing Ezza South/Ikwo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Chinedu Ogah, retaining his position as the group’s state coordinator.
Ogah, who was reappointed for a second term as Ebonyi State Coordinator of the TSG, is expected to lead the group’s grassroots mobilisation and political engagement in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda ahead of the 2027 elections.
The development is particularly significant against the backdrop of the emerging political realignments in the state, as the TSG seeks to consolidate support for the President across the 13 local government areas and deepen its presence at the grassroots.
Also inaugurated into the state leadership of the group is Chikaodili Ojimba, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate for Ebonyi North Senatorial District, alongside other prominent stakeholders, including Steve Nwakpa, Nkemka Onuma Okoro and Chief Alison Eke.
Other members of the leadership include Oliver Nwachukwu, State Secretary; Ken Okoro, Director; Prince Arthur Ude Omanta, Director of Youth; and Mrs Eucharia Orogbo, Director of Women Affairs.
The inauguration, which drew political leaders and stakeholders, was attended by Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf; Senate President, Godswill Akpabio; Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas; and other national and state political figures.
Speaking on the renewed mandate, the group said its new leadership was expected to strengthen grassroots mobilisation, coordinate political engagement and take the message of the Tinubu administration’s policies and programmes to communities across the state.
Ogah’s retention as coordinator is also expected to provide continuity in the group’s mobilisation strategy while leveraging his political network and legislative constituency to expand the TSG’s reach ahead of the 2027 elections.
The emergence of Ojimba, an APGA senatorial candidate, in the leadership structure also underscores the broader political configuration around the support group, with stakeholders from different political platforms participating in efforts to promote the President’s agenda.
The TSG leadership was urged to deploy constructive political engagement, issue-based mobilisation and sustained sensitisation in communicating the achievements and policy direction of the Tinubu administration to the electorate.
The group is also expected to work with relevant stakeholders to strengthen its structures across wards and communities, particularly as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 elections.
The development comes amid growing political activities in Ebonyi, where parties and political interest groups are already positioning themselves for the next electoral cycle.
The TSG is expected to complement existing support structures for the Tinubu administration while advancing the Renewed Hope message and building wider acceptance for the President across the state.
The group’s activities in Ebonyi are also expected to interface with the administration of Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, particularly in areas of grassroots engagement and public sensitisation on government policies and programmes.
With the inauguration of the new leadership, attention is now expected to shift to the group’s mobilisation strategy and its capacity to translate the renewed political mandate into a formidable grassroots support base for Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
