Town union presidents across Ohaozara, Onicha and Ivo Federal Constituency of Ebonyi State, otherwise known as OHANIVO, have passed a vote of confidence in the member representing the constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Nkemkama Kama.
The community leaders expressed their support for the lawmaker during an interactive engagement with him in the constituency, where they reviewed developmental challenges confronting their respective communities and discussed possible interventions.
In a communiqué issued after the engagement and signed by the town union presidents, including Chief Nicholas Odii of Uburu community in Ohaozara Local Government Area, the leaders commended Kama for providing what they described as an open platform for grassroots leaders to articulate the needs of their communities and explore practical solutions to them.
The town union presidents said communities across the federal constituency had benefited from Kama's interventions in several sectors, particularly the provision of solar-powered lighting facilities, which they said had enhanced visibility and security in beneficiary communities.
They also commended the lawmaker for the construction of solar-powered boreholes across the constituency, saying the projects had contributed to improving access to potable water for residents.
The communiqué read in part: "We recognize his interventions in the health sector, particularly through the support and equipping of health centres, as well as the provision of free healthcare services to constituents."
On infrastructure, the community leaders said they acknowledged Kama's interventions in road development across the constituency, noting that the lawmaker had assured them of his determination to continue addressing identified road challenges while pursuing the completion of projects already commenced.
The leaders further commended what they described as the lawmaker's efforts to facilitate employment opportunities for constituents, adding that his assurance to pursue additional opportunities remained encouraging.
They said, "We acknowledge the various employment opportunities facilitated by Hon. Nkemkama Kama for constituents across the constituency and appreciate his assurance that he will continue to pursue and facilitate more opportunities for our people."
The town union presidents also cited Kama's empowerment initiatives, including the distribution of motorcycles, dryers and other items to beneficiaries, as evidence of his efforts to support livelihoods and economic activities within the constituency.
They equally acknowledged his support for various carnivals and community-based programmes, which they said had created platforms for social interaction, cultural expression and the promotion of unity among constituents.
According to the leaders, Kama had demonstrated a commitment to ensuring equitable representation by extending interventions to different parts of OHANIVO based on identified needs.
"In recognition of the foregoing interventions, his accessibility, willingness to engage with grassroots leaders and commitment to the development of OHANIVO, Chief Nicholas Odii moved a motion for a Vote of Confidence in Hon. Nkemkama Kama," the communiqué stated.
The leaders, however, urged the lawmaker to sustain his engagement with grassroots stakeholders and continue to prioritise projects and interventions capable of delivering tangible improvements in the lives of constituents.
"We encourage him to sustain this engagement with the grassroots and continue to prioritize projects and interventions that have direct and meaningful impact on the lives of our people," they said.
The vote of confidence followed the interactive session, which provided the community leaders an opportunity to present their respective development concerns and engage the federal lawmaker on areas requiring further attention across the constituency.
