Senator Ned Nwoko has reaffirmed his membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC), declaring that his legal battle to reclaim the Delta North Senatorial mandate remains firmly on course.
Nwoko made the declaration on Friday in Asaba, where he was received by a large crowd of supporters who gathered to welcome him back to the state.
The senator, who has been challenging the outcome of the APC senatorial primary in Delta North, said he remained committed to representing the interests of the people of the district and would pursue the matter through lawful channels.
“I remain a bona fide member of the All Progressives Congress, APC, and I am optimistic that through the legal process, I will reclaim my mandate and continue to provide effective representation to the people of Delta North,” Nwoko said.
The dispute followed the APC senatorial primary held in May, in which former Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, was declared the winner. Nwoko rejected the outcome and subsequently pursued redress through the party’s appeal mechanism and the courts.
Despite the legal developments surrounding the matter, Nwoko told his supporters that he remained confident in the judicial process, urging them to remain steadfast and peaceful.
He said his commitment to the people of Delta North remained unwavering, adding that he would continue to champion issues concerning their welfare, economic opportunities, infrastructure and long-term development.
The lawmaker also expressed support for the economic reforms of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing them as measures designed to reposition the Nigerian economy and establish the foundation for sustainable growth.
Nwoko acknowledged the economic pressures confronting households and businesses but appealed to Nigerians, particularly Deltans, to remain patient with the administration.
According to him, the reforms require time to mature and deliver their intended benefits, expressing optimism that Nigerians would increasingly begin to see positive outcomes.
The senator also renewed his commitment to the agitation for the creation of Anioma State from the present Delta State, describing the project as a major component of his political and legislative agenda.
Nwoko said the struggle for the proposed state remained unfinished and pledged to sustain the campaign if returned to the Senate.
“I will not abandon the struggle for Anioma State. It remains a major part of my agenda, and if I return to the Senate, I will continue to pursue the creation of Anioma State with the same commitment,” he said.
Nwoko has consistently linked his legislative activities and political advocacy to the Anioma state-creation project, which has featured prominently in discussions around the political future of Delta North.
He expressed appreciation to the supporters who turned out to receive him, describing their presence as a demonstration of continued solidarity.
Nwoko urged them to remain peaceful and steadfast as the legal process over the senatorial mandate continues, assuring them that he would continue to pursue what he described as the interests and aspirations of the people of Delta North.
