The Deputy Governor of Ebonyi State, Barr. Eric Kelechi Igwe has congratulated the Ebonyi State Governor, Engr. David Nweze Umahi on his meritorious award by Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria (RIFAN) for his contribution to the success of the Anchor Borrowers Programme (ABP) today 18th January; 2022 in Abuja.
Governor Umahi alongside the Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Mr. Godwin Emefele was listed among the recipients of the award based on their contributions to the success of the Anchor Borrowers Programme (ABP).
While congratulating Umahi for the feat, Barr. Igwe maintained that Governor Umahi has exhibited unparalleled passion in the diversification of Ebonyi State Economy through his numerous Agricultural Programmes in the state, aimed at increasing food security and sufficiency in Nigeria.
He commended the governor for his commitment in ensuring that attention is shifted to agriculture which was the mainstay of Nigeria's economy before the discovery of oil.
The Deputy Governor said that Umahi's contribution in making agriculture - the hallmark of Ebonyi State economy has made civil servants, and public servants to queue into farming other than leveraging on their salaries.
He thanked President Muhammadu Buhari and Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria for the award given to Governor Umahi, and noted that such recognition would spur Governor Umahi to increase his contribution in the agricultural sector and also encourage the rural farmers with more incentives for a mega growth in agricultural production.
