The Speaker of Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Chief Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, on Monday bagged a new chieftaincy title as Enyi-Wa-Uzor I of Okpoduma-Agbaja during the occasion of the community's day and cultural carnival.
Also, the State Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General, Chief Cletus Ofoke was conferred a chieftaincy title - Ike-Okpoduma I and his wife, Chief Mrs Chioma Cletus Ofoke conferred Ugoma I of Okpoduma-Agbaja.
The Chairman EDON Group of Companies, Sir Architect Edward o.lwOkereke Nkwegu was equally conferred Omereoha I of Okpoduma - Agbaja, alongside the Chairman Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission, Chief Elias Nwalem Mbam who bagged Enyanwu-Awara-Oha I of Okpoduma-Agbaja and a renowned Community leader, Chief Michael Ijere Nwankwo was given a chieftaincy title - "Akaraka I of Okpoduma-Agbaja" during the event.
Decorating them, the President General of Oha Izhi Nnodo and the Onuoha III of Nkaleke Echara Autonomous Community, HRH Eze S.N Oketa, who was accompanied by Eze Izhi Gbirimi I of Lagos State, other traditional rulers and elders, noted that the honour was due to their outstanding contributions to their community and larger society.
Oketa however, advised others to emulate them, while advocating for the promotion of love, peace, unity and progress in Izhi land and beyond.
Also in his address, the Chairman Central Planning Committee, Mr Godwin Uguru said that the event was designed to be a time for stock taking, appreciation and peace setting for future development tone for the village and the community at large.
"Okpoduma remains the cradle, nucleus and epicenter of the development side of the entire Agbaja Community and now assuming so far the entire Izhi land.
"It is also designed to enhance harder work to retain and maintain this emerging status of the village," Uguru said.
The occasion chaired by Chief Hyacinth Uguru attracted high esteemed personalities who made it more colourful.
Meanwhile, the former Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Chief Godwin Ogbaga during the event congratulated those given the chieftaincy titles, wishing them more and greater accomplishments while serving humanity.
