Ebonyi State Governor Engr. David Umahi has charged Ebonyi people to change their attitude and always show gratitude to God and one another to make progress in life.
The Governor gave the charge during the interdenominational thanksgiving church service to mark the 62nd Independence anniversary of Nigeria and the 26th anniversary of the creation of Ebonyi State held at saint paul's Catholic Parish Onuebonyi.
The Governor who described gratitude as an acknowledgement of the mercies of God in one's life encouraged politicians to always place the people's interest above themselves to attract the blessings of God.
Umahi while appreciating President Mohammadu Buhari for approving the release of one Billion, five hundred million nairas for intervention in the ogwuma Edda landslide, reassured that Ebonyi State would continue to trade on equity, justice, fairness and power rotation in the governance of the State, maintaining that Chief Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru remains the best choice for the State in 2023.
He commended Ebonyi's founding fathers for their enduring effort that led to the creation of the State and enjoined Ebonyians to embrace a second address other than politics to advance.
The Governor in his generosity and support to God's work, donated a 50KVA generator, 20 solar lights and ten million nairas to the church and directed the commissioner for works to as a matter of urgency, construct a one-kilometre road leading to the church while his water counterpart was directed to drill and install two boreholes for the church to reticulate water round the church premises.
Earlier in a sermon titled, gratitude, Ebonyi at 26, the priest in charge of the church and South East CAN chairman, Reverend Father Abraham Nwali, enjoined Christians especially political officeholders to always show gratitude to God and invest in their neighbours for a better tomorrow.
The cleric while thanking Governor Umahi for the opportunity to work with him and impact positively on the lives of widows, the sick and the physically challenged, called on politicians in the State to build factories to give Ebonyi people employment rather than building hotels all over the state.
The thanksgiving service was attended by the wife of the Governor Chief Mrs Rachel Umahi, former Governor of Ebonyi State Chief Martin Elechi, former Deputy Governor Professor Chigozie Ogbu and other top government functionaries.
There was a special prayer for the first family of the State.
