Following an alleged town hall meeting of the Presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu with the leaders of the organized labour unions, the opposition Labour Party has described the gathering as a baseless rumour.
According to the Spokesperson for Peter Obi-Yusuf Baba-Ahmed Datti Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), Yunusa Tanko, the leadership of the Labour Party is not aware of a Town Hall meeting between the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential flag-bearer for the 2023 election, Bola Tinubu, and organized labour unions.
It was gathered that Tinubu and top members of his campaign council, on Monday met with the leaders of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (APC) among others.
According to Politics Today, the APC candidate traded himself to the labour leaders at the event.
However, Tanko in a statement made available to journalists on Tuesday stated that his party, which is affiliated with the NLC, TUC and others, was not aware of the meeting.
“We were not aware of the meeting but the TUC and NLC are for everybody. You can come and discuss. But we know they are owners of the Labour party. But there is no cause for alarm.
“We don’t entertain any fear if they meet with Tinubu and members of the ruling party or not. But I wasn’t aware of the meeting anyway,” he asserted.
