The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ebonyi State, Francis Nwifuru said that the Ezza people would regret it if they fail to give his party a landslide victory at the 2023 polls in their localities.
He stated this on Friday at Onueke, the Ezza South Council Headquarters during the APC's Statewide Local Government Campaign in the area.
Nwifuru who described himself as a child of destiny, said the 2023 election, demands a person with proven leadership understanding to steer the apex seat in Ebonyi and upheld that his experience as a two-term Speaker in Ebonyi Assembly would make it work for him successfully.
He emphasised the need for the sustenance of zoning, equity, fairness and social justice in the distribution of the seats of power, especially in the gubernatorial position, which according to him, is the turn of Ebonyi North Senatorial Zone to produce the governor of the state, in the forthcoming general elections.
Nwifuru declared that the people of Ezza Nation would regret it if they compromise at the 2023 polls by not voting massively for his victory and the
other candidates who are contesting elective positions under the platform of the APC in their areas.
His words: “For the people of Ezza nation, listen why I said that you will regret it if you don’t vote for me is because as a son of the soil, I believe in justice and equity.
“This time around is the time for us to show capacity and how we can show capacity is to vote for APC; if you do not vote for APC, no other government will hand over power to Ezza nation. It’s only my government, that is if you vote massively for me, and I get 100 over 100 per cent votes, I will then speak in your favour in the committee of the stakeholders of our great state.
“But if you don’t do so, don’t expect me to come out to speak in your favour. If we lose any candidate here I will take it that you don’t need us and we will not speak in your favour when the time comes, your time is 2031,” he said.
Recall that there were unconfirmed reports that the Ezza clan had sought support from its Ikwo sister clan to support one of their sons, Prof Benard Odoh, a strong gubernatorial contender under the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
But Nwifuru had told the Ezza people that 2023 is not their turn to produce the governor after the incumbent Governor David Umahi.
He, therefore, insisted that if voted into office as the Chief Servant of the state in 2023, he would negotiate for a son or daughter of Ezza nation to govern in 2031.
Nwifuru is now the Speaker of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly.
