The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ebonyi has urged road users to shun unwholesome practices on the roads during the eid-el-fitri celebrations.
The Sector Commander of the Corps in the state, CC Uche Chukwurah made the call in her goodwill message to Muslim faithful and other Nigerians on the celebrations.
Chukwurah urged road users to avoid unwholesome road practices such as night travels, overloading, overspeeding, reckless and drunk driving among others during the period.
"Road users should instead adhere to road traffic regulations and exhibit the highest level of discipline to prevent crashes on highways.
The sector commander noted that the command had employed various strategies to ensure that the roads are safe within the period and beyond.
"We have deployed 720 personnel, 10 patrol vehicles, one ambilance and tow truck to ensure safety on the highways.
"We have deployed special patrols in critical road corridors within the state to reduce road crashes; attendant fatalities and injuries.
"We would ensure prompt rescue of crash victims, employ robust public enlightenment, prompt sanctioning of traffic offenders, clearance of obstructions and traffic control where build-ups are experienced".
She extended her best wishes to Muslim faithful on the celebration and assured that with the deployment of FRSC personnel and vehicles, the roads would be safe.
"It is hoped that the highways would be safer and secured for motorists and other road users during and after the festivity,"
