The Ebonyi State's newly sworn-in Commissioner in charge of the Stadium and Governor's office, Hon. Franklin Uchenna Nwamkpuma has assured that the State Olympic stadium under construction would be completed and put in good shape to use in handing over power to the Governor-elect Chief Francis Nwifuru come 29th May 2023.
He gave the assurance shortly after his official swearing-in by Governor David Umahi at the State Executive Council Chambers, Abakaliki.
Nwamkpuma who commended Governor Umahi and Governor-elect Chief Francis Nwifuru for their joint efforts in elevating him to the position of Commissioner promised to utilise his wealth of knowledge to run the affairs of his office with the view of delivering on his mandate while congratulating the duo for their efforts in ensuring the massive transformation being witnessed today in the State.
"I just came from the stadium and work is speedily going on there. We expect that in a few days to come the stadium must have been completed and kept in good shape.
"We are optimistic that we are going to use the same stadium for the handover ceremony come 29th May," he said.
On the expectation of the incoming administration, the Commissioner hinted that the Governor-elect, Chief Francis Nwifuru would deliver on his mandate considering his leadership prowess and as a two-term speaker of the State Assembly.
While congratulating the brand new commissioner, the Coordinator of Ebonyi Peoples mandate, Ebonyi North zone Mr Ochisi Douglas described the appointment of the new Commissioner as a welcome development, adding that Nwamkpuma deserved the position as a grassroots politician and great mobilizer who has contributed meaningfully for the development of the State.
Ochisi urged the new commissioners to be dedicated to their duties by emulating the hardworking manner of Gov. Umahi to continue reaping the dividends of democracy.
Others who congratulated the commissioner included Hon. Benjamin Ezeoma member representing Ebonyi North West in the State House of Assembly and Hon. Ikporo Jeremiah deputy director of Divine Mandate Campaign Organization Ngbo Agbaja ward, who thanked Governor Umahi for finding Nwamkpuma worthy of the position.
They urged the State Governor-elect to prioritize human capital development as his predecessor has done a lot in building tStinfrastructural-wise wishes in the interest of Ebonyi people while praying for a peaceful transition.
Our correspondent reports that Hon. Nwamkpuma has been elevated from the position of DC Coordinator to Special Assistant anis d now a brand new commissioner.
