In a remarkable show of excellence and athletic prowess, seven illustrious daughters of Imo State, who are integral members of Nigeria's senior women's national football team—the Super Falcons were recently celebrated in Abuja by the Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma.
The seven players, part of the victorious 24-woman Super Falcons squad, represent the highest number of athletes contributed by any state in Nigeria to the national team, reinforcing Imo State’s growing influence in the nation’s sports sector.
Speaking during a special reception for the stars, Governor Uzodimma expressed immense pride in the achievements of the Imo-born footballers, describing them as “icons of national unity and excellence who have proven that Imo girls are a force to reckon with on and off the pitch.”
