A renewed wave of political solidarity swept through Ishielu Local Government Area, known as the gateway council of Ebonyi State, as the residents staged a one-million-man march in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, and the council chairman, Mrs. Peace Ifeoma Agwu, ahead of the next general elections.
The rally, organized under the banners of the Peace Agwu Support Group and the Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru (FON) Movement, turned the usually calm Ishielu council headquarters, Ezillo into a festival of colours, music, and chants.
Political observers described the event as one of the largest grassroots mobilizations in the state’s recent history.
National Leader of the movement, Uchenna Agwu, said the people’s show of support was driven by the visible achievements and responsive leadership of the three APC figures.
“The good works of Governor Francis Nwifuru, President Bola Tinubu, and our council chairman, Mrs. Peace Agwu, inspired this one-million-man solidarity march. Your party is our party, and our support for your re-election in 2027 is unwavering,” Agwu declared.
The APC Chairman in Ishielu, Joshua Abah, extolled Governor Nwifuru for his remarkable strides in infrastructure, education, and youth empowerment, describing him as “a visionary who has redefined governance in Ebonyi State.”
“The APC-led government in Ebonyi has become a model of excellence. Many of our sons and daughters now enjoy postgraduate scholarships both at home and abroad, thanks to the governor’s commitment to human capital development,” Abah noted.
He also commended the council Chairman, Agwu for her record in road development, peacebuilding, healthcare delivery, and community empowerment, insisting that her second term bid was “non-negotiable.”
Community leader Tempest Ogbuzuru emphasized unity and continuity, adding a symbolic message that resonated with the crowd.
“We can’t look for the best when excellence is already here. Our chairman is excellent, our governor is excellent, and our President is excellent. We stand behind them for 2027, and two plus two equals four, four plus four equals eight; that’s how we roll,” he said to applause.
In her remarks, Regina Nwafor, Secretary of Ishielu LGA, hailed Mrs. Agwu’s leadership for restoring peace and stability in the area, noting that the massive turnout reflected the people’s trust in her administration.
“The peace and progress we enjoy today are the results of purposeful leadership. Our support for her re-election, and that of the governor and President, is total,” she affirmed.
Responding, Mrs. Peace Ifeoma Agwu expressed gratitude to the people for their overwhelming support, pledging to sustain her administration’s developmental agenda.
“I am deeply moved by this outpouring of love. This movement was spontaneous, I wasn’t even informed ahead of time and it shows the people’s faith in what we are doing,” she said.
She also commended Governor Nwifuru for his transformative projects in Ishielu, highlighting the construction of 23 kilometers of roads and 144 modern bungalows in the area.
“Our governor has touched every ward in Ishielu with life-changing projects. And our President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is complementing those efforts with national infrastructure such as the dualization of the Enugu–Abakaliki Expressway that passes through our council,” Agwu added.
The event climaxed with a vote of confidence in President Tinubu, Governor Nwifuru, and Chairman Agwu, reaffirming Ishielu’s status as one of the APC’s most steadfast and organized political strongholds in Ebonyi State.
