The Ebonyi State Police Command has announced two major security breakthroughs, further tightening its grip on criminal activity across the state.
In a statement issued on Monday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Joshua Ukandu, operatives on patrol along the Ehamufu–Nkalagu Road on 12th November 2025 responded to gunshots and distress screams.
They arrived to find Ali Solomon wrestling with three armed robbers attempting to snatch his motorcycle.
The robbers opened fire on sighting the police, but the officers swiftly returned fire, neutralising one suspect while the others fled.
A loaded AK-47 rifle with ten (10) rounds of ammunition was recovered from the scene.
Just a day later, on 13th November 2025, the Command successfully dismantled a kidnapping syndicate notorious for terrorising the Ezzangbo axis in Ohaukwu LGA.
The gang had abducted Obasi ThankGod, tied him up, and confined him in a hotel toilet while demanding a ₦5,000,000 ransom.
Following sustained intelligence operations, police traced the gang’s hideout, carried out a coordinated rescue operation, and safely freed the victim.
Three suspects—Uchenna Ogbozuru, Ebuka Ejiogu, and Chizoba Idenyi Ogwa were arrested and are currently in custody pending prosecution.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Adaku Uche-Anya hailed the operatives’ swift response and professionalism, assuring residents that the Command remains resolute in its mission to eliminate criminal threats.
She also thanked the public for providing timely intelligence that continues to bolster policing efforts.
