Former Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano, has reportedly passed away in London following complications arising from severe heart failure and urinary cancer.
A senior member of the Obiano family, who confirmed the development, said the former governor had been battling deteriorating health for months.
“His health had been declining in the past months, but the final collapse came suddenly. We are devastated,” the source said.
Medical personnel in London, where Obiano was undergoing treatment, disclosed that he had been placed under intensive care in his final days.
“He fought till the very last moment,” a hospital insider stated.
As of the time of this report, no official public statement has been released, but family members are said to be making necessary arrangements while awaiting further briefings.
