The Governor of Ebonyi State, Francis Nwifuru, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to a people-centred approach to governance and called on both local and international investors to take advantage of the state’s improving security and growing infrastructure.
The governor’s message was delivered by the Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Barrister Ikeuwa Omebeh, at the recent induction of new members of the Nigerian Guild of Editors.
Speaking on behalf of the governor, Omebeh highlighted the administration’s “giant strides and wonderful achievements” since taking office less than two years ago, and extended an open invitation to stakeholders and partners to visit Ebonyi State and witness the progress firsthand.
According to Omebeh, the administration’s success is guided by the People’s Charter of Needs, a policy framework designed to ensure governance is responsive to citizens’ priorities.
“We allow the people to decide how they wish to be governed and which public amenities should be prioritized,” he said, emphasizing that the government’s initiatives are firmly anchored in citizens’ needs.
Omebeh also outlined the administration’s achievements in pension management, noting that no pensioner or retiree in state or local government service has been left unpaid since 1996 under the current administration.
On security, the commissioner highlighted the government’s efforts to resolve communal disputes through reconciliation, rehabilitation, and restoration.
He described Ebonyi as one of the safest investment destinations in Nigeria, inviting both local and foreign investors to take advantage of the stable environment.
He further disclosed that the government has completed several projects started by the previous administration, including the state airport, and expanded access to potable water for residents.
He disclosed that as part of its commitment to the media sector, the state has reactivated and revitalized the Ebonyi State Broadcasting Corporation, with Chief Tony Nwizi appointed as its new Director-General to help the corporation compete with leading media houses.
Omebeh emphasized on Governor Nwifuru’s enthusiasm to host stakeholders and members of the event’s standing committee in Ebonyi State, noting that the administration’s achievements “speak for themselves.”
“There is a place where everything is working. There is a place where good governance is in place. That place is Ebonyi State,” he said.
