In a show of political unity, leaders and stakeholders of Abakaliki North constituency have thrown their support behind the re-election bids of Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, and the lawmaker representing the constituency in the State House of Assembly, Mr. Nwoke Victor Chidi, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The endorsement came during an event held at the Igweokpu residence in Abakaliki, where Mr. Nwoke also used the occasion to educate his constituents on the importance of proper bank transaction narrations to avoid wrongful taxation under the federal government’s new tax reform law, set to take effect in January 2026.
Speaking to his constituents, Nwoke emphasized, “If you are sending money as a gift, make sure to indicate it clearly in the narration. Similarly, if it is for family support or loan repayment, it should be properly documented. This ensures that no income is wrongly taxed.”
The event also doubled as a festive celebration, with Nwoke distributing thousands of bags of rice and significant cash gifts to the people, highlighting his commitment to community welfare.
Traditional rulers and community stakeholders praised both the governor and the lawmaker for their contributions. HRH Eze Boniface, a prominent traditional ruler, said, “Governor Nwifuru has done greatly well for the people of Ebonyi State, and Nwoke Victor has equally served the constituency commendably. Both deserve to be re-elected in 2027.”
John Nwohoke, coordinator of the Abakaliki Development Centre, echoed these sentiments, noting the governor’s achievements in infrastructure, rural development, employment, and empowerment programs.
“The government of Francis Nwifuru has brought peace and progress to all parts of the state. Nwoke has also served the people faithfully. We fully endorse both for a second term,” he stated.
The chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abakaliki LGA, Mr. Paulinus Atam, added, “Nwoke has proven himself by giving back to the people. We believe he deserves another term to continue his good work.”
A notable highlight of the event was the defection of key stakeholders from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), including Alieze Godsave and former councilor Mrs. Alieze Eucharia, to the ruling APC, signaling growing political momentum ahead of the 2027 elections.
The endorsement and community gathering underscore a strong show of support for Governor Nwifuru and Nwoke Victor, setting the tone for the forthcoming electoral contest in Ebonyi State.
