The Minister of Works, Engr. (Apostle) David Umahi, has applauded the leadership ingenuity and commitment of the pioneer Vice Chancellor of David Umahi Federal University of Health Sciences (DUFUHS), Uburu, Distinguished Professor Jesse Uneke, describing his stewardship as exemplary and impactful.
Umahi gave the commendation during a Christmas homage paid to him by the management and staff of the University, noting that the Vice Chancellor has demonstrated uncommon capacity and loyalty in repositioning DUFUHS as a centre of excellence in medical education, research, capacity building, and human resource development.
The Minister expressed delight at the rapid transformation of the institution, stating that he feels proud whenever he visits the University and observes its steady growth and development.
“VC of our University, thank you! Thank you! I feel so delighted each time I pass through the University. You have shown capacity and loyalty,” Umahi said.
In further demonstration of his support for the institution, the Minister announced the donation of 5 megawatts of solar energy, alongside other intervention projects, aimed at ensuring stable power supply and enhancing teaching, learning, and research activities for staff and students of the University.
He explained that the solar power project would significantly boost academic productivity and provide a conducive environment for training future healthcare professionals.
Earlier in his address, the Vice Chancellor of DUFUHS, Distinguished Professor Jesse Uneke, speaking on behalf of the management and staff, said the Christmas homage was organised to appreciate the Minister for his unwavering support to the University since its inception.
Prof. Uneke disclosed that the University recorded remarkable achievements in 2025, placing it ahead of many peer institutions, and reaffirmed his commitment to sustaining global standards in medical education, research, and healthcare delivery.
The Christmas homage was well attended by principal officers and staff of the University.
