First Executive Governor of the state, Distinguished Senator Sam Ominyi Egwu, has called on Nigerians to embrace national unity and work collectively towards improving security across the country while celebrating the Yuletide season.
In his Christmas message, Egwu felicitated with Christians in Nigeria and Ebonyi State in particular for witnessing another anniversary of the birth of Jesus Christ.
He described Christmas as a season of spiritual rebirth, love, forgiveness, and peaceful coexistence, urging citizens to reflect on the teachings of Christ and extend care and generosity to one another.
According to him, the celebration provides an opportunity for Nigerians to renew their commitment to peace and mutual understanding, stressing that unity remains a critical factor in addressing the numerous challenges confronting the nation.
Egwu particularly highlighted insecurity as one of the most troubling issues bedeviling Nigeria, noting that its resolution requires collective efforts from government, communities, and individuals.
He urged Nigerians to support initiatives aimed at restoring peace and ensuring that citizens can live without fear.
The former governor also called on Ebonyi people to continue to support leadership at all levels, especially the administration of Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, whom he commended for steering the affairs of the state in line with the people’s charter of needs.
He wished Ebonyians and Nigerians at large a peaceful Christmas celebration and a prosperous New Year, expressing hope for a more secure, united, and prosperous nation.
