Speaking in his New Year address, the Governor emphasized that the progress of Ebonyi State depends not only on government policies but also on the active participation of its citizens.
Governor Nwifuru began his address by extending warm greetings to Ndi Ebonyi at home and abroad, as well as royal fathers, religious leaders, women, youths, workers, and security agencies, acknowledging their crucial role in sustaining peace and unity in the State.
He also gave thanks to Almighty God for preserving lives and communities through the challenges of 2025.
Highlighting the achievements of his administration, the Governor cited key reforms across education, healthcare, infrastructure, and economic empowerment.
He pointed to the expansion of scholarship programs, establishment of the ICT University and University of Aviation and Aeronautical Engineering, revitalization of primary healthcare centers, and the ongoing road and infrastructure projects across all local government areas.
Governor Nwifuru also spoke about strategic economic initiatives aimed at empowering citizens, such as the Hawkers’ Fund, youth empowerment programs, integrated farming, and plans for a modern cement factory to process Ebonyi’s abundant limestone resources.
He disclosed that his administration has procured three aircraft under ‘Ebonyi Air’, a move designed to improve connectivity, facilitate business, and attract investment.
On governance, the Governor stressed that development is strongest when it is inclusive and participatory.
He assured that the 2026 Local Government elections would be free, fair, and transparent, with no imposition of candidates.
He directed that all appointed officials seeking to contest must resign, ensuring a level playing field for all aspirants.
Nwifuru further highlighted the importance of mercy and reconciliation, granting both living and posthumous pardons to selected individuals to restore dignity and foster peace within communities.
Calling on all citizens to embrace unity despite differences, he urged the youths to reject crime and channel their energy into productive activities, while workers and security agencies maintain professionalism and integrity in their duties.
Governor Nwifuru thus, reaffirmed his dedication to serve with fairness, humility, and respect for the law, pledging that the Ebonyi being built is for all generations.
He prayed for a year of peace, strength, dignity, and steady progress for every family in Ebonyi State.
“The Ebonyi we are building is not for one group or generation; it is for all of us, and for those yet to come,” Nwifuru said.
