The Executive Chairman of Orhionmwon Local Government Council, Mr Thompson Osagie, has commended Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, for what he described as his swift intervention that led to the successful rescue of a middle-aged woman abducted at the Vegetable Market along Airport Road, Benin City.
Osagie gave the commendation while reacting to the incident, noting that the Governor’s prompt response and decisive action were instrumental to the safe recovery of the victim and the arrest of suspected kidnappers involved in the operation.
He said the development reflects Governor Okpebholo’s strong commitment to the protection of lives and property, as well as his administration’s resolve to tackle insecurity head-on across Edo State.
According to him, the rescue operation has further restored public confidence in the state government’s security architecture and demonstrated that criminal activities will not be tolerated under the current administration.
“The swift rescue of the victim and the arrest of those responsible underscore Governor Monday Okpebholo’s commitment to safeguarding the lives of Edo people. His decisive action reflects responsive leadership and a clear determination to rid our communities of criminal elements,” Osagie stated.
He also commended the Edo State Police Command and other security agencies involved in the operation, praising their professionalism, courage, and coordinated effort which led to the successful outcome.
The council chairman urged residents of the state to continue to support security agencies by providing timely and credible information that would aid efforts to combat crime and maintain peace.
He reaffirmed the Orhionmwon Local Government Council’s support for the state government’s security initiatives, expressing confidence that sustained collaboration between government and security agencies would continue to yield positive results in the fight against kidnapping and other violent crimes.
Osagie further warned criminal elements to steer clear of Edo State, stressing that the government remains resolute in pursuing and bringing offenders to justice.
