A loyalist of the Minister of Works and former House of Representatives aspirant, Engr. Frank Ngwu, has urged the people of Ebonyi State to reward President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru with a second term in office, citing what he described as their commitment to infrastructure development, agricultural support and good governance.
Ngwu made the call during the distribution of fertilisers and cash support to farmers at Ohatekwe Village in Ezza North Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
He explained that the empowerment programme formed part of an agricultural support initiative facilitated by the Minister of Works, Sen. David Nweze Umahi, across local government areas in Ebonyi and neighbouring states to enhance food production.
"First and foremost, I wish to thank my boss, my chairman and my mentor, Distinguished Senator Engineer David Nweze Umahi. He is the architect of this programme that we have today," Ngwu said.
He noted that over 85 per cent of Ebonyi residents engage in farming, making it necessary to provide fertilisers and financial assistance to boost agricultural productivity.
"Over 85 per cent of Ebonyians are farmers and for this reason, the Honourable Minister of Works deemed it necessary to support our farmers. We also provided some token of funds to all the beneficiaries," he added.
Ngwu described Umahi as a gift to Ebonyi State and Nigeria, saying the minister's ongoing road infrastructure projects across the country reflected the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu's administration.
"When you are coming from Abakaliki, you will see that there is already an ongoing dualisation road project. The Calabar-Onueke-Benue-Abuja Superhighway has witnessed tremendous progress of work along the Ezza North section through the Onueke Flyover," he said.
He further listed other ongoing projects to include the proposed flyover at Ukwachi, the reconstruction of the Abakaliki-Enugu Expressway, the dualisation of the Abakaliki-Afikpo Road and the Afikpo-Okigwe Road, while recalling that the Ebiaji Road was constructed by Umahi during his tenure as Governor of Ebonyi State.
According to him, the massive infrastructure development attracted to the state by the Minister of Works should be appreciated through overwhelming electoral support for President Tinubu, Governor Nwifuru and other candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.
"The only way to reciprocate these kind gestures is to vote massively for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and all APC candidates," Ngwu stated.
The former House of Representatives aspirant also commended Governor Nwifuru for what he described as remarkable achievements in governance and the restoration of peace across the state.
"We commend our dear Governor, Chief Francis Nwifuru, for his achievements, especially his peace initiatives in the state. We have to support his re-election as he has promised to hand over to an Ezza man in 2031. We have to support him now so that he will support us to succeed him," he said.
Other stakeholders at the event, including the Commissioner for Transport, Hon. Collins Igboke, former Ebonyi APC Chairman, Hon. Ben Nwobasi, the Traditional Ruler of Okaleru Community, HRH Ezeogo Basil Nwafor, and APC chieftain, Chief Joseph Ozor Chukwu, also pledged their support for the re-election of President Tinubu, Governor Nwifuru and other APC candidates in the 2027 elections.
The stakeholders expressed satisfaction with the performance of the Minister of Works, particularly the execution of major federal road projects in Ebonyi State, describing the projects as critical to the socio-economic development of the state and the South-East region.
They subsequently adopted a motion endorsing President Tinubu, Governor Nwifuru and all APC candidates for the 2027 general elections, stating that the resolution was in line with the collective decision of elders and stakeholders of the Ezza clan.
