Ndiakpara Nchoko village in Ebonyi State has endorsed the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidates for the 2027 general elections, declaring support for High Chief Chikaodili Ojimba for the Ebonyi North Senatorial District and Sir Joseph Ugochukwu Ojike for the Abakaliki/Izzi Federal Constituency.
The endorsement was made during a consultation visit by Ojimba, the APGA leader in the state, and other party leaders to the community, where elders, women, youths and other stakeholders engaged the delegation on grassroots development, representation and political participation.
Speaking during the visit, Ojimba thanked the people of Ndiakpara Nchoko for the warm reception accorded him and the APGA delegation, saying the consultation was designed to establish a direct relationship with the people and understand their expectations ahead of the elections.
He said political leaders should remain connected to the grassroots and ensure that the concerns of the people remained central to their political engagement.
Ojimba also called for peace, unity and issue-based political participation, urging the electorate to engage candidates on their programmes and commitments.
Responding on behalf of the community, the Campaign Coordinator, Nchoko Igbeagu Ward 2, Comrade Nwuzor Stephen, described the visit as significant, saying he could not recall any aspirant previously visiting his village specifically to consult with the people.
Nwuzor said Ojimba's decision to come directly to the community demonstrated respect for its leadership and residents.
He said, in appreciation of the engagement, the community had resolved to mobilise support for Ojimba, Ojike and other APGA candidates contesting various elective positions in the 2027 elections.
“The entire village will mobilise and support the APGA candidates in the 2027 general elections,” Nwuzor said.
The community subsequently endorsed Ojimba for the Ebonyi North Senatorial seat and Ojike for the Abakaliki/Izzi Federal Constituency, alongside other APGA candidates.
Also speaking, a representative of the women, Mrs Charity Jancita John Egbudu, commended Ojimba and the APGA delegation for visiting the community and providing women with an opportunity to participate in the consultation.
Egbudu stressed the importance of women in grassroots mobilisation and community development, noting that women constitute a significant constituency in community-level political participation.
She expressed appreciation for the engagement and pledged the women's continued support for dialogue between APGA and the people of Ndiakpara Nchoko.
The consultation ended in an atmosphere of cordiality, with community stakeholders reiterating their stated support for the APGA candidates, while the delegation thanked the people for their hospitality.
The engagement formed part of APGA's grassroots consultation ahead of the 2027 general elections, with emphasis on direct interaction with communities, peaceful political participation and people-centred representation.
